FESTIVAL Les Rendezvous de l'Erdre

Personnalité surprenante, décapante et un peu étrange des musiques industrielles, JG Thirlwell mulitiplie les pseudonymes, les projets et les collaborations. Dans les années 1980, sous le pseudonyme de Clint Ruin, il travaille avec de nombreuses personnalités de la scène No Wave, Industrielle et New Wave (Nurse With Wound, Marc Almond de Soft Cell, The The, Lydia Lunch, Nick Cave...). En plus d'être un artiste prolifique à travers ses propres projets (Foetus, Steroid Maximus signé chez Ipecac...), Thirlwell a remixé et produit de nombreuses pièces pour des artistes aussi différents que Front 242, Red Hot Chili Peppers et Marilyn Manson. Depuis 2000, devenu plus actif en tant que compositeur, il écrit des titres entre autres pour Bang on a Can ou le Kronos Quartet. Pour le festival, il présente son projet Manorexia (signé sur le label Tzadik de John Zorn), septet où se côtoient cordes, piano et ordinateur, improvisations et expérimentations, où les compositions riches en textures, sont dérangeantes et belles.

JG Thirlwell’s Manorexia will play a rare London show on April 12 2012 at Union Chapel.

The show is being presented by All Tomorrow’s Parties in conjunction with the First Contact agency.

The ensemble will include previous Manorexia UK stalwarts Angharad Davies, Tim Parkinson and Dan Gresson, along with former alumni Jessica Cox and Rachel Steadman.

The instrumentation of the ensemble is two violins, viola, cello, piano, concert percussion and laptop.
